Chair Massage
(Seated Onsite Massage)

If you are not already familiar with chair massage you may have noticed those odd contraptions people lean into at airports, booths at trade shows and at other events and places. The people in the chair seem to be in a state of relaxation while someone stands over them and applies varied types of pressure to the back, neck, shoulders and arms of the seated person. Treatments typically last 10-15 minutes.

This is a seated massage, also known as chair or on-site massage. The specially designed massage “chairs” are comfortable and supportive allowing relaxation on the part of the client while allowing the practitioner to work effectively in the upper body region.

These convenient treatments have proven to be highly sought after by those who have neck and shoulder as well as back pain to help relieve their stress and pain quickly and with very little intrusion to their daily routine.

I have taken my chair to community events, such as The Taste of Edmonds, parties, spas, fundraisers, the local mall, hospitals, business offices, hotels and private homes. I am hired to perform chair massage for varied reasons. Companies hire me to work on their employees as a reward for a job well done, private individuals have hired me to come to them on-site due to their inability to travel to an office, such as in the case of working in private homes and hospitals. I have worked parties and spas as a benefit to the attendees and patrons, and so on.

The on-site service I offer is varied depending on what the needs of the patron are. Sessions may be from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. Individuals may pay for their own service or the organizer may pay the entire fee. If the situation allows, I provide soft music and as much relaxing atmosphere as possible. In the case of people who are unable to travel, their treatment may also include legs and feet.

I also offer chair massage in my Edmonds studio Monday thru Friday. Appointments are recommended, at least phoning ahead to be sure I have availability before coming in.

For more information and ideas about how on-site massage can work for you please contact me. I welcome the chance to discuss it with you.

*Suggestions for an enjoyable chair Massage:

If you know you have a chair massage scheduled or plan to get one at some point in the day, here are some hints to help you dress to optimize the experience.

  1. Wear an open collar or a collarless shirt.
  2. Choose a shirt that is smooth in texture and not too thick (you can always layer).
  3. Be sure the shirt is roomy enough to allow you to hold your arms in front of you without too much pull in the fabric across your back.
  4. If your hair is shoulder length or longer secure it up for the massage.
  5. If you have makeup on you may want to touch it up after the massage.
  6. If you have any facial injuries or swelling definitely inform your therapist. You may want to pass on the standard chair massage for the moment. But if you inform your therapist he/she may be able to position without causing pain.
  7. Necklaces, bracelets, watches and bulky rings should be off for your best results.
  8. Please turn off your mobile devices.
  9. It is a good idea to drink additional water after the massage.

These suggestions are for your comfort and your ultimate chair massage experience. Enjoy!
