Therapy for Animals
Canine Water Therapy Water therapy for dogs is gaining in popularity throughout the world. Our region is in the forefront in this area. Water therapy is used for many of the same reasons as standard massage would be and adds the non-weight bearing benefits of exercise, stretching and range of motion as well.
Most often canine water therapy is used to help strengthen weakened muscles after surgery or injury. It can allow dogs that have limited or no use of some areas of their body to comfortably exercise and strengthen the rest of their body. Water therapy can give a dog confidence in the water which can help with emotional stress. Therapists are able to achieve impressive results with water therapy for arthritic and geriatric animals, giving them a fun, safe way to get some exercise and a sense of accomplishment. In conjunction with massage the warm water helps increase circulation, softening the muscles allowing effective stretching and increased range of motion of areas that may not be comfortable for the dog under general therapy conditions. J Linn works with SplashDog Canine
Warm Water Therapy Spa in Edmonds, WA. The SplashDog facility has been specially designed for the care and safety
of canine clients. The pool is approximately 8’ W x 20’ L x 4’ D and is kept at 94 degrees. The
pool is highly filtered and skimmed many times a day. Bromine is used in place of chlorine to keep the water clean
and germ free and bromine is much easier on skin and hair. |
