Being in the dog day care industry it is crucial to know what to do in case of an emergency. J Linn is a trusted client of ours so we asked her to teach the CPR training to our staff. About a month ago a staff member came running to me holding one of our day care dogs in her arms, he was lifeless with a faint heartbeat and not breathing. I immediately began mouth to snout and after a few breaths his eyes were moving around and he started wheezing, but at least he was breathing! I realized his needs were past what we could do for him so I rushed him to the vet. There he was stabilized, had some tests done and was sent home. Turns out he had a seizure caused by an enlarged heart. But he’s back at day care and is as happy and healthy than ever! Without J Linn’s skills and expertise in teaching the hands-on CPR training class I wouldn’t have known what to do.

Thank you so much J Linn!!!

“Paddy the Cattle Dog Needs Your Help !”

We are trying to raise funds for Paddy a very nice cattle dog at the Ellensberg shelter.

He is very hard to adopt because he needs a surgery that could cost around $ 1,800.00.

He loves to play with balls and Frisbees. He goes out with 5 other dogs everyday and is just an all around good dog.

Now we just got good news from a group that helps people pay vet bills. They are covering both surgeries!

Paddy went to the vet this week and he said both legs need cruciate ligament surgery.

This is a big relief for us to get this donation.

Now we have the huge task of finding someone willing to foster him.

Can you or do you know anyone who can help Paddy recover?

Also, the surgeries get done one at time and that makes it even harder.

He is good with all dogs, people, kids and cats. He is protective and will bark when someone comes. He loves to chase the ball so the person will need to just sit with him and roll the ball to him and make sure he doesn’t get up. Right now ~ the shelter is carrying him out side in a wheel barrow because after a few steps he lies down, but we would use a towel around his stomach to help him outside. He is only 45 lbs and not heavy at all.

Recovery takes 6 weeks. Then he can go for small walks and swimming is very good exercise for the healing process.

He could go to a new home at that point with directions on how to care for him.

He should not be doing any jumping or Frisbee/ball chasing.

* Donations will also be accepted to help Paddy with any complications, rehab or physical & swimming therapy that may be needed. Please send check to Ginger’s Pet Rescue * 322 North 105 * Seattle, Wash 98133 or you can PayPal your donation on our website at www.gingerspetrescue.org

Here is Paddy’s care sheet for his surgery.

-will be on pain meds for a min of 14 days

-will need bandages to be kept dry and will need them changed in 10-14 days

-if there is swelling the bandgae slips or is soiled it will need to be changed immediately

For the first 2 weeks the following will need to be done:

1. A strict confinement to one room or preferably a large wire kennel.

A carpeted floor is best. falling and landing on the knee could cause a fractue

2. Outside only on a leash 3-4 times a day (wear a bootie if wet out)

3. No stairs

Then in 2 weeks he will need to go in to the vet to have his bandage changed and any sutures removed.

After that he will need to walk 2-3 times a day ~ very short walks.

Then in 2 weeks a recheck at the vets office to make sure he is healing well.

” HELP SAVE PUPPY CHOWDER ”

* CAN YOU ADOPT
OR FOSTER ME PLEASE?

Can you please help me?

My name is Chowder and I was born with
Mega Esophagus

I am only 8 weeks old and I was born on Feb 10, 2010 ~ I really need your help!

My esophagus has a very big enlarged area & it starts out a normal size and gets really big.

It was discovered because I make a gurgle sound at times.

It turns out it is just air in there and it is not harmful.

When I eat is where the problem starts and food can get stuck in the enlarged area
and the food just stays there.

It can cause me to throw up or sometimes this can aspirate into my lungs.

I need to be fed soft food & have them made into pea sized meatballs
or like soup only not as thin.

I need to be fed in a special type chair that can be made.

The chair is called a Bailey chair.

I sit up like a person would when I eat and then I have to stay in the chair for 30 min
after I am done eating. You do have to feed me.

This chair has been very successful in giving these dogs like myself a
really good chance at an otherwise normal life.

I do run a higher risk than most other dogs do of aspiration and infection.

The vet said my case was bad and she did several tests to diagnose this
and she also consulted with other specialists.

Sometimes when we grow, it can get better but never cured, but I can improve.

The web site for more information is: http://www.caninemegaesophagus.org/

I will need someone that is committed and diligent in my care.

My life depends on your care, otherwise I will become weak, sickly
and I will either die from infection or starvation.

I am a huge responsibility but so full of love to give to anyone who takes me.

I will have to be fed at least 3 times a day for the rest of my life but I will be an incredible blessing to anyone who is willing to save and take good care of me!!!

————————————————-

* We are taking Donations for my Bailey Chair & Vet Care

* Your donation is tax deductible.

* You can send a donation check to * 322 North 105 Street * Seattle, Wash 98133

* OR PayPal on our website at: www.gingerspetrescue.org

* * * Thank you so much, Love, Chowder

“Kenzie started working with J Linn approximately 3 years ago, when she began to show signs of arthritis and other age related concerns. Since then her need for anti-inflammatory medications has dramatically decreased. Kenzie has been able to remain very active well into her senior years. She is currently 14+ years young! Though Kenzie by nature, is not much of a water dog, J Linn keeps her feeling comfortable and secure in the pool and provides feedback for massage and stretches to be done at home in between sessions. Kenzie’s mom considers J Linn a very integral part of Kenzie’s overall health and wellness. We are extremely grateful for you and all that you do!”
